The National Teaching Council (NTC) has begun issuing teaching licenses to newly qualified teachers and

teachers who have been exempted from the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE), as announced.

The issuance of licenses started today, May 15, as indicated in a letter from the NTC Registrar earlier.

The exercise will cover about 19,484 teachers across the country over the next one month, ending on June 23.

The NTC has scheduled dates and centres for different regions where the licenses will be issued, starting with the Greater Accra Region from today.

The teaching license is mandatory for all professionally qualified teachers in Ghana.

It certifies that the holder meets the standards and requirements to teach.

This is a reminder to all newly qualified teachers and those exempted from the GTLE that the exercise to obtain their teaching licenses has started today, May 15, as announced by the NTC.

Teachers awaiting their license are advised to check the schedule released by the NTC for the dates and centres applicable to their region.

They are also encouraged to gather the required documents and present themselves promptly to receive their license and fulfil the requirements to practice as a qualified teacher.

The issuing of teaching licenses to this cohort of teachers marks an important milestone for the teaching profession, boosting the stock of qualified teachers in the country's education system.
