History of Akumfi Ameyaw Senior High Technical

Akumfi Ameyaw Senior High Technical was established as a Community Private Day Senior High School on 7th November 1988, and named ASUOGYAMAN SECONDARY SCHOOL. It was relocated to Aworowa in the Techiman Municipality

The students’ population then was 107. The school relied on Part –Time tutors from Techiman Secondary School and voluntary teachers within the community to form the teaching staff.

Mr. Yaw Afari Ankomah voluntarily offered to be the Headmaster of the school pending its absorption into the public system. The school was officially inaugurated in April 1989 with Registration No. P.A./81/88. The following persons formed the first Board of Governors of the school: Mr. Bediako Poku ( Chairman), Mr Thomas Ahimah, Ms Theresa Fofie, Mr. S.Y. Asiamah, Mr. Paul K. Sarfo, Mr Afena Diawuo, Mr. S.Y. Effah, Mr. S.A Yeboah, Mr.Adonten Poku. Mr. K.A. Marnu and Mr. Joseph Munufie.

With the inception of the Senior Secondary School system in 1990/91 academic year, the school was absorbed into the public system and named Asuogyaman Secondary Technical School to reflect the course content. Originally, the school offered courses in Agriculture, Technical and Vocational Education.

On 21st August 1991, Mr. Isaac Antwi- Boasiako took over the administration of the school as the Acting Headmaster. He was later confirmed as substantive head of the school until 30th September 2002.

Miss Mary B. Kwakye acted as Headmistress of the school until 19th March 2003 when the present Headmaster took over as substantive head of the school.

On 18th August 2005, approval was given for the school to operate the Boarding System. On 30th April 2007, the name of the school was changed to AKUMFI AMEYAW SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL.
